Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Cell

The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Cell, HPSM’S Ganpat Parsekar College of Education, Harmal, Goa, has been established in alignment with the Government of Goa, Directorate of Higher Education guidelines for the establishment of IKS Cells in colleges. The Cell seeks to promote and integrate India’s rich cultural and ecological heritage, with particular emphasis on Goa’s indigenous knowledge, traditions, environment and cultural heritage, into academic and community engagement activities.

Vision:

To integrate Goa’s traditional knowledge with modern education, fostering cultural identity, sustainability and innovation through the revitalisation of indigenous knowledge systems.

Mission:

To promote Goa’s indigenous knowledge through ethical, sustainable and interdisciplinary practices, in support of the broader national IKS mission.

Objectives:

The IKS Cell aims to:

• Document and safeguard Goa’s rich cultural and ecological heritage.
• Connect traditional wisdom with contemporary academic learning.
• Promote research and documentation of indigenous knowledge.
• Encourage experiential learning through interaction with local artisans, knowledge holders and community members.
• Promote sustainable practices rooted in traditional knowledge.
• Integrate IKS themes with teaching-learning practices in accordance with NEP 2020.
